The art of puppetry and its production by hand is now a UNESCO cultural heritage site in Salzburg. In the Kammerspiele, these lovingly crafted wooden puppets regularly bring old classics such as The Magic Flute to life with great creativity. The rest of the week, the Kammerspiele serves as a normal concert hall, e.g. for performances by the Landestheater.

Salzburg is probably best known for the city’s son, Mozart, and for hosting the world’s largest opera festival, which of course needs a fitting concert location. But the rest of the year you can also experience wonderful concert, opera and ballet evenings in the Festspielhaus and the adjacent Felsenreitschule (a stage carved directly into the Mönchsberg). As a student, you can get away really cheaply in comparison.
